Five students surveying plants in greenhouse at UCSC farm

Research

Building on decades of expertise in agroecology and sustainable food systems, the UC Santa Cruz AgTech Alliance is advancing solutions to the complex challenges of modern agriculture. We bring together scholars focused on technical innovation and those examining its societal implications—reflecting UCSC’s culture of interdisciplinary research.

Farm robot with students in field

Agro-robotics research at UCSC focuses on developing autonomous machines that assist farmers by improving the efficiency and precision of tasks such as planting, weeding, and harvesting. These technologies are designed to support the agricultural workforce and enhance resource management in sustainable farming practices.
